Propecia helps treat hairloss, and is the only FDA approved treatment available. It is used to treat hairloss both on the top of the head, and on the anterior mid-scalpa area.
The results vary with Propercia, but for most men the number of hairs increase within 12 months of treatment. Results may occur in as little as 3 months, and it may help slow hair loss.
Propecia is approved for use by adult men only. It has not been shown to have any effect on female postmenopausal hair loss and should not be used by women. Propecia is currently available by prescription only.
